Visit of Smt. Preneet Kaur, Hon'ble Minister of State for External Affairs of India to the Republic of Serbia [18-21 November 2013]

Smt. Preneet Kaur, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs of India, who is on a visit to Serbia from 18-21 November, 2013, today met with H.E. Mr. Ivica Dacic, Prime Minister of Serbia.

During the meeting, discussions were held on matters relating to whole range of bilateral relations, including economic cooperation, exchange of high level visits, people-to-people contact, issues relating to visa regime, UNSC expansion etc. Hon’ble Prime Minister briefed Hon’ble MOS on the Kosovo issue and appreciated India’s stand on Kosovo. Hon’ble MOS thanked Serbian side for continued support for reform of the UNSC in both permanent and non-permanent membership category, including India’s candidature as permanent member of the UNSC. Hon’ble Prime Minister emphasized the need for further cooperation in the fields of IT, pharma, investment, film production, agriculture and various other sectors.

Hon’ble MOS later visited Gandhi Street (named in 1970) and Nehru Street (named in 1972) in Belgrade and garlanded the busts of Mahatma Gandhi(unveiled in 2007) and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (unveiled in 1990).

The Hon’ble MOS departed for Delhi today at the end of the 3-day visit.
