Invitation to the Health Minister of Serbia to visit India

Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India to Serbia held a meeting on August 22, 2014 with H.E. Dr. Zlatibor Loncar, Minister of Health of the Republic of Serbia, and handed over an invitation from Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India, inviting Dr. Loncar to visit India for signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia for Cooperation in Traditional Medicine.

During the meeting, Ambassador emphasised that the new Government in India had given a lot of importance to the signing of this agreement in order to enhance the bilateral cooperation in Yoga and traditional medicine. Ambassador also highlighted the strength of Indian medical & pharma sectors including high quality & low-cost medical care and suggested that the proposed visit of the Minister to India could be used to understand the complete overview of Indian health sector and to invite Indian companies for establishing joint projects in Serbia including production of generic drugs, establishment of hospitals and cooperation in medical education etc. Ambassador informed the Minister about the possibilities of collaboration in bio medicine & pharmacology within the ambit of the bilateral Science & Technology Agreement. 

Both sides agreed to appoint representatives to scope out areas of cooperation and to prepare the ground for further discussions during the India-Serbia Joint Economic Committee meeting scheduled to be held in Belgrade on 19th September 2014.
