Invitation to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication of Republic of Serbia to visit India

Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India to Serbia held a meeting on September 02, 2014 with H.E. Mr. Rasim Ljajic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication of the Republic of Serbia, and handed over an invitation from Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce & Industry of India, inviting H.E. Mr. Ljajic to participate in 'The Partnership Summit 2015', being organised by the Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Rajasthan and the Confederation of Indian Industry, from 15-17 January 2015 in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The Partnership Summit has the distinction of being one of the most prestigious annual Business events in India. The event is attended by captains of trade and industry from India and world over. It will provide Serbian side a unique platform for networking and create awareness of the emerging opportunities for Indian businesses in the Serbian economy. 

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia had led the Serbian delegation to the 2014 edition of the Summit. The Indian Embassy had also organised business road-shows for the delegation in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore & Mumbai.

Both sides discussed the interest taken by the Indian companies in Serbian economy and emphasised that regular bilateral interaction of both the sides is vital to increase the levels of economic partnership. Both sides expressed the hope that the forthcoming India-Serbia Joint Economic Committee (JEC) meeting scheduled to be held in Belgrade on 19th September 2014 would provide the necessary impetus including through visa liberalization, review of existing agreements & exploring newer areas of cooperation. Noting the success of Incredible India campaign in Serbia, both sides emphasised the importance of tourism cooperation.
