Participation of Embassy of India in the 59th International Belgrade Book Fair 2014

In collaboration with “Incredible India”, Embassy of India is participating for the second time in the 59th International Belgrade Book Fair from 26 October - 02 November 2014 (1000 hrs. to 2100 hrs. daily) at Belgrade Fair.

Indian Stall in Hall 2A along with the Exhibition - 'Digital Prints of Selected Artwork by Tagore' was inaugurated by H.E. Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India and H.E. Mr. Sinisa Mali, Mayor of Belgrade by lighting of traditional Indian Lamp on 26th October 2014. The Tagore Exhibition has been provided by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi. The occasion was also used to promote the book “Tagore’s Selected Works” in Serbian language. During the occasion, Prof. Dr. Dusan Pajin gave a lecture on Rabindranath Tagore. The event was attended by a number of journalists and prominent visitors.

Speaking to the press, Ambassador mentioned that India is the third largest publisher of English language books and seventh largest overall. The Indian stall has books on modern Indian literature, children’s books, books by great personalities of India such as Tagore, Gandhi, Nehru etc. Several Indian titles such as Q&A by Vikas Swarup have been translated into Serbian language and are available at the India stall.

The Indian booth is also promoting Incredible India and exhibition on Digital Prints of Selected Artwork by Tagore, books relating to India & Indian products as well as for audio/visual presentation on India & Indian books etc. All interested are cordially invited to visit the Indian stall in Hall 2A. The following activities have been planned at the Indian booth in coming days:

27th October 2014, 1100 hrs.

Promotion of the book 'The Inventor' written by Mr. Rave Mehta regarding Nikola Tesla and address by Mr. Aleksandar Protic, Tesla Global Forum Scientific Director, Tesla Memory Project Director about Tesla, the book & the writer.

ii)

28th October 2014, 1100 hrs.

Promotion of the book “Yoga - Spirit and Body" in Serbian language written by Prof. Dr. Dusan Pajin.

iii)

29th October 2014, 1100 hrs.

Promotion of the book 'Indian Theatre - Tradition and Activism' in Serbian language by Dr. Milena Dragicevic Sesic

iv)

31st October 2014
1100 hrs.

Promotion of children books by 'Amar Chitra Katha' and by 'National Book Trust'.
