Bring India and Serbia Closer Through Participatory Photography INDIASERBIA Photography Contest 2014

The Embassy of India in Belgrade, in partnership with EXIT Foundation, Brand Serbia, India Tourism (Incredible India), Etihad Airways, National Institute of Design, Stockimagebank and Ideaworks Design & Strategy Pvt Ltd – organized the first INDIASERBIA Photography Contest – a collaborative project to further the relations between the citizens, professionals and institutions of India and Serbia.

The INDIASERBIA Photography Contest was launched in Novi Sad, Serbia on the 10th of July 2014 – the birthday of leading Serbian scientist, Nikola Tesla during the Rebrand Serbia Conference organized on the first day of the EXIT Festival – the best Major European Festival that receives over 200,000 visitors. The Indian Ambassador to Serbia, HE Smt. Narinder Chauhan, announced the contest open by inaugurating the online contest portal www.indiaserbia.com.

Since the launch, over 1500 entries were entered by photography enthusiasts from India and Serbia. A jury panel that comprised of some of the leading professionals –Akhil Bakshi, Rishi Singhal, Ritam Banerjee, Sugandha Dubey, Sudhir John Horo from India and Dragan Kujundzic, Jovan Trkulja, Nebojsa Babic, Petar Vujanic, Zoran Đorđević from Serbia. The jury adjudicated the entries recently and declared the Top 10 entries from India and Serbia respectively while also announcing the Grand Prize winners on the 15th of December.  

Samir Basu wins the Grand Prize from India for his entry of a village boy tugging his livestock home. He receives two tickets, courtesy of Etihad Airways, to visit Serbia in the month of July 2015 when the EXIT Festival is on. He will be hosted by Brand Serbia and EXIT Foundation for seven days in Serbia. Zoltan Bisak wins the Grand Prize from Serbia for his mesmerizing photo of a boy sleeping in a Serbian household. He receives two tickets to visit India in January 2015 and will be hosted by Incredible India. The other winners receive VIP passes to the biggest event in Serbia – the EXIT Festival 2015. The winning photographs are also being compiled into a collectible by the Indian Embassy in Serbia to highlight this unique initiative.

Over the next few days, starting the 5th of January till the Belgrade International Tourism Fair in February, notable entries will be displayed and shared on the Indian Embassy’s facebook page: www.facebook.com/IndembassyBelgrade through another online contest – INDIASERBIA Caption the Photo Contest.

The second edition of the INDIASERBIA Photography Contest will be announced in July 2015 and we would invite all photography enthusiasts to participate in this incredible opportunity to know more about two disparate geographies and culture.
