The literary evening programme will feature opening address by Prof. Dr. Miroslav Raicevic, Director of the Institute of Economic Diplomacy and H.E. Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India.

Prof. Dr. Dusan Pajin will speak on the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore. Verses from Tagore’s songs will be read by actor Dejan Cavic. A 30-minute documentary film on Tagore will be screened at the end of the programme, followed by a cocktail.

An Exhibition titled ‘Digital Prints of Artworks by Rabindranath Tagore’ containing 45 prints of a selection of the paintings of Noble Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore is also on display at the National Library of Serbia.

Gurudev Tagore has a special connection with Serbia. Gurudev Tagore visited Serbia (former Yugoslavia) in 1926 and gave two lectures in the Belgrade University, had lunch in ”Serbian King”, gave an interview to Stanislav Vinaver and talked to the Bishop Nikolaj Velimirovic. Further, Gurudev was moved by a certain gift: an old Serbian robe hemmed with gold, made in Kosovo in the 18th century. The Serbia National Review edition (No. 4 of 2007) which wrote about his visit to Belgrade, described Gurudev as "the profound interpreter of East” and stated that the Serbian capital was amazed by the Indian poet and philosopher, as well as he was amazed by Belgrade.

All interested are cordially invited to attend this literary event.
