Embassy of India, Belgrade is pleased to inform that in recognition of the excellent cooperation with the Serbian Tourism Industry, the Embassy has been conferred with the ‘Golden Amphora Award’ by the ‘YU Travel Tourist Review’ (magazine) in a formal ceremony held on December 22, 2014 at Hotel Palace, Belgrade.  The Award was received by H.E. Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India in Belgrade.

For the past 19 years, YU Travel Tourism Review, in collaboration with journalists from the print media, radio and television, has been organizing a competition for the best achievement in tourism sector.  The Embassy of India was chosen as one of the Awardees from this year’s competition.

The Embassy of India, Belgrade has been promoting India Tourism in various foras and fairs, including Belgrade International Tourism Fair, Belgrade International Book Fair, Belgrade Fashion Week, EXIT Festival, Bus branding, etc.  In order to engage Serbians and Indians to foster a greater understanding between the two cultures and to know each other’s country better, an IndiaSerbia photography contest was also held, which was announced by the Ambassador of India at the EXIT Festival 2014.   The Contest received overwhelming response; winners of which have been announced last week.   As a result of these concerted efforts, there has been notable increase in the number of tourists from both the countries.

There is great potential for tourism in both India and Serbia.  The recent relaxation in visa rules by the Government of Serbia will motivate more people from India to visit Serbia.  The Embassy of India expresses its gratitude to ‘YU Travel Tourist Review’ for recognizing its contribution in the tourism sector.
