Indian Puppet Group "Katkatha" in Serbia from 19-23 May, 2015

Embassy of India, Belgrade, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations ( ICCR ), New Delhi, has great pleasure to announce that the Indian Puppet Group "Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust" is visiting Serbia from 19-23 May, 2015. The Group will give performances entitled "About Ram" as per the following details:

19th May at 12.00 hrs	:	At the 22nd International Festival of Children’s Theatre, Subotica, National Theatre - Stage "Jadran", Park Ferenca Rajhla 12 ( http://lutfestsubotica.net )
20th May at 17.00 hrs	:	At CNESA Cultural Centre, Glavni Trg 9, Kanjiza
21st May at 18.00 hrs	:	At Youth Theatre, Ignjata Pavlasa 4, Novi Sad
23rd May at 17.00 hrs	:	At "Pinokio" Theatre, Goce Delčeva 1, New Belgrade

"About Ram" is an experimental theatrical piece using excerpts from the Bhavbhuti Ramayana and told through animation, projected images, dance, masks and puppets. As the name suggests, the performance is about Ram the Prince exiled by his father along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. During which Sita is kidnapped by Ravan the King of Lanka. In this journey and the war that follows with Ravan, Ram became a king, forced to choose between the duty of the throne and the love of his life. He rules alone for the next 10,000 years.

This is the second year that the Indian Embassy and ICCR has arranged participation of a Puppet Group from India at the International Festival of Children’s Theatre, Subotica. Last year, the Indian Puppet Group ( Vinod Bhatt & Group ) had won the "Best Animation" Award in the competition section of the Festival.
