Participation by Embassy of India in the 62nd International Belgrade Book Fair 2017 [22-29 October, 2017]

The Embassy of India will participate in the forthcoming 62nd International Belgrade Book Fair from 22-29 October, 2017. The Inaugural of the India Pavilion at the Book Fair is on Sunday 22nd October at 18.00 hrs at Hall no.2 Belgrade Fair grounds. India Pavilion at the fair will be inaugurated by H.E. Ambassador of India Mrs Narinder Chauhan and State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication H.E. Ms Tatjana Matic. Other guest at the inaugural will include Indian tourism, film and media representatives as well as representatives of Belgrade University, Belgrade Schools, book publishers, media and others. This is the fifth year in a row that the Embassy is participating in this event which attracts tens of thousands of visitors from the country and the region.

          Indian participation at 62nd International Belgrade Book Fair will include: (i) Special exhibit of books on yoga and Ayurveda forming a complete approach for optimal health, vitality and higher awareness (ii) Books on Contemporary India including Indian political economy, diverse culture and history (iii) Indian cuisine which is  the world’s most ancient cuisine, unique in its remarkable use of spices (iv) Religion & Philosophy  to understand the culture and philosophy of the Vedas and Upnishads, philosophy of Hinduism, Indus Valley civilization (v) Indian publication on  Buddhism  and Buddhist art   from Buddhist Rock-cut cave temples representing one of the greatest movements of Indian Art (vi) Books in Serbian language. Over 150 Indian titles have been translated into Serbian, many of which will also be presented at the Indian pavilion (vii) Children’s books as well as English-Hindi dictionaries and ‘Learn yourself Hindi’ Kit will also be available  (viii) Fiction covering wide range of books. (ix) Great Indians covering books on lives and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Aurobindo,  Rabindranath Tagore, Jawaharlal Nehru etc. 

The India Pavilion will also provide works of award winning modern Indian authors including Salman Akhtar, Chetan Bhagat, Anita Desai, Vikas Swarup, Anita Nair, Aravind Adiga, Kunal Basu, Manju Kapur, V.S. Naipaul, Amitav Ghosh, Indu Sundaresan, Hari Kunzru, Radhika Jha, Jhumpa Lahiri, Mahesh Rao, Vikram Chandra, Deepak Chopra, Upamanyu Chatterjee, Asha Miro, Rohinton Mistry, Navtej Sarna etc.
