The Embassy of India, Belgrade, is pleased to announce that the following Indian feature films will be screened at the Mission’s Chancery premises at Djordja Radojlovića 7A, Dedinje, Belgrade:

The film “EK CUP CHYA” / A Cup of Tea ( Marathi / 2009 / 120 minutes ), directed by Sumitra Bhave & Sunil Sukthankar, and starring Kishor Kadam & Ashwini Giri, will be screened on Friday, 21st March 2014, at 17.30 hrs. The film has Serbian subtitles.

The film “MY NAME IS KHAN” ( Hindi / 2010 / 160 minutes ), directed by Karan Johar, and starring Shahrukh Khan & Kajol, will be screened on Saturday, 22nd March 2014, at 17.30 hrs. The film has English subtitles.

A cup of tea is a symbol of hospitality. Unfortunately it has now become a symbol of corruption. Kashinath Sawant, a state transport bus conductor from a village in coastal Maharashtra, lives with his family - wife Rukmini, old mother, two daughters Vasanti and Vanadevi, and two sons Chandan and Abeer. One fine day, the family is slammed with a huge electricity bill. They feel trapped and humiliated by the indifferent bureaucracy. Saving grace is their sense of humour and warmth of familial bond. The right to information act accidentally crosses Kashinath’s path. With the support of his driver friend Saiyyad and under the guidance of an activist Dr. Durga, Kashinath regains his honour. The film salutes those who never offered “a cup of tea” and chose to fight their battle silently.

Rizvan Khan, a Muslim man from India, moves to San Francisco and lives with his brother and sister-in-law. Rizvan, who has Aspergers, falls in love with a Hindu woman, Mandira. Despite protests from his family, they get married and start a small business together. They are happy until September 11, 2001 when attitudes towards Muslims undergo a sea-change. When tragedy strikes, Mandira is devastated, and they split. Rizvan is confused and very upset that the love of his life has left him. To win her back, he embarks on a touching and inspiring journey across America.
