Exhibition ’Textiles and Decoration in the Culture of the Serbs in the 19^th and the First Half of the 20^th Centuries’’ in the National Museum, New Delhi, India, by the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade from 25 July to 31 August,2017

            The National Museum, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Ethnographic Museum, Belgrade, will host an Exhibition  titled ‘’Textiles and Decoration in the Culture of the Serbs in the 19^th and the First Half of the 20^th Centuries’’, by Marina Cvetkovic and  Jelena Vuletic, from 25 July to 31 August 2017.

            The Exhibition will be held in the Museum’s Special Exhibition Gallery and will contain objects from the Ethnographic Museum’s collection of textile handicrafs and jewellery, including folk costumes, woolen kilims, wall hangings, traditional jewellery and decorative jewellery items.

            The Exhibition, ’Textiles and Decoration in the Culture of the Serbs in the 19^th and the First Half of the 20^th Centuries’’, the first guest exhibition by Serbia in New Delhi, will present to the public of New Delhi and India only a small portion of the culture of Serbia and the items on display are products of the multi-layered cultural heritage ranging from the ancient Balkan peoples and the Slavic culture to the historical events of the modern period.

            Similarly, the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Belgrade, hosted a successful Indian Sari Exhibition and Fashion Show in 2014, curated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
